Dirar Kalash
Dirar Kalash is a musician and sound artist whose work spans a wide range of musical and sonic practices within a variety of instrumental, compositional and improvisational contexts. He plays a number of instruments, reimaging sound through the oud, the keyboard and sax. His 2020 release, Of Quietude, was described as “tantalising”, “like following someone down a dark path with the terrain constantly changing” and “an essential album.”
He will be joined by musician and double bass player Otto Willberg who is involved in improvisation and other exploratory music and Andrew Lisle, a drummer working in the field of jazz and improvised music, pushing the limits of what is possible on the drums (technically and musically) while drawing influence from the jazz tradition.
Down miss out on the chance to see these three very special artists playing a rare gig together and making history down in SJQ.
