Scott Lavene
Like all the greatest music Scott Lavene is all at once familiar and yet hard to place. A street poet delivering real life vignettes over wonk beats and scuzz riffs, he is a 21st century take on those maverick genius outsiders that Stiff Records used to release back in the punk wars. Apples & Pears is the latest single from his forthcoming album Broke out in June which will be supported by a headline UK tour. Notable supporters to date include Steve Lamacq, Louder Than War, The Times, Songwriting Magazine, Get Into This and more.
“Sounds like an updated version of something that Stiff records would have released in the 70’s” – Steve Lamacq
“Think Baxter Dury’s warped kid brother” – The Times
“A talented, self-taught singer-songwriter” – Guardian
“Lavene has the lyrical smarts and the bark of an Ian Dury, the incisive wordplay of a Costello and the deadpan pop of Madness” – Louder Than War
“It’s the kind of infectious bop that burrows into your head on the back of 80’s post-punk eccentricity” – Atwood Magazine
