VANESSA ANNE REDD’s album will be out and we’re celebrating
the release of her second solo record, the gothic folk fairy tale of dark sin and salvation that is “Zumbo Waxes”. Following on from her electronic forays with ‘Rubicks’ and ‘Six Years’ Vanessa Anne Redd has written her second solo record following on from the success of debut “Behind the Wall”.
‘Vanessa Anne Redd has assembled what can easily stand amongst the best singer-songwriter albums of the year’ – Loud & Quiet
Classic and percussive guitar, cyclical octave range of piano, baroque-esque string arrangements, Hammond organ, percussion and tape effects meld together and are laced with Redd’s fragile and bewitching vocal. It’s a sound that flirts between the jagged electric guitar of Angel Olson, Holly Golightly or PJ Harvey, the intimacy of Leonard Cohen and the off-kilter theatre of Regina Spektor, Hunky Dory-era Bowie and 1970’s Scott Walker. Songs shot through with the bittersweet tang of forbidden fruit, existential angst and spiritual yearning.
‘Vanessa Anne Redd is a crafty and artful songwriter. [Her] weird, disjointed psychedelic-folk takes us down the rabbit hole on a fearless songwriting adventure’ – Songwriting magazine
‘Bold stark songwriting’ – Clash Magazine
‘With a velvet voice and raw but playful guitar in her music, Vanessa Anne Redd brings her own style of quirkiness to the indie-folk genre’ – Guestlist Network
‘British-German musician has created a brand new contemporary folk’ – Loud And Quiet
PHOEBE COCO playing her unique brand of mesmeric electronic-folk in support of the release of her second single on Sharp Attack Records “Wild”. From riding horses in the wild forests of Provence to waking up in the unknown morning of London after nights out, her songs give a call to the wild creatures within us.
Phoebe has also worked as songwriter and composer with experimental sound collective Breathing Space Collective and scored soundtracks for Universal pictures, Vogue, alongside other commercials. Her debut album will be out later this year on Sharp Attack Records, also co-produced by Marc Makarov and Vanessa Anne Redd.
‘Full of creativity, beauty, charm and character she is an artist of many mediums’ – Cooler
‘Melding her understated vocals with flowing modern classical / pop piano lines, Phoebe’s sound is reminiscent of Regina Spektor or Tori AmosHardly raising her voice from a conspiratorial, conversation volume, she invites you into her world of wild horses, diverted and sabotaged youth’ –Beatnik Events
