3 Years of Nothing Fancy with Living Cannibal + Mumble Tide + Lichen

To celebrate Nothing Fancy hanging on in there for 3 years, some of the family are coming together at Servant Jazz Quarters.

Art-rock original Allister Kellaway aka Last Living Cannibal released his On A Perfect Earth EP this winter. It comes as the second step in the life of the Last Living Cannibal project, following last year’s self-released debut album 7 Years, but it brings to the table experience and nous garnered from many years in the scene, during which he has explored many realms of sound and style.

2021’s mini-album ‘Everything Ugly’ gives a front seat view to the self-contained world of Mumble Tide. The duo began when Gina Leonard advertised for a bassist in a Gumtree ad and Ryan Rogers responded; “the boyfriend part was a bonus”, notes Gina. Their scrappy, chaotic sound is the result of the freedom they feel around one another.

Lichen are the band project of South London-based songwriter Michael Clark. Lichen’s style is languid on the surface, yet masterful and refined in their structures and arrangements. There is a heady marriage between this cultivated formula and the intensity of the themes, the subject matter, and the lyrical dispositions that Michael has crafted over the years.
