The Momo Collective for an open-minded jam session, drawing on the scorpios band’s back catalogue as well as playing new material.
Hailing from Central Sudan and now based in London after fleeing the fundamentalist takeover in that region, the Scorpios are a septet that melds Arabic rhythms and guitar chops with a raw Eastern funk feel, properly dismantling cultural barriers in pursuit of a unifying rhythmic bliss. Heavy bass, synths, horns and percussions drive through traditional Sudanese forms to create a sound that owes as much to Detroit as it does to Khartoum.

Majazz Project Palestine sound archive will DJ after the live show.
Over several years, Mo’min Swaitat has amassed an archive of rare tapes and vinyl from Palestine and beyond, spanning field recordings of weddings to revolutionary tracks and synth-heavy 80s funk. Many of these were acquired from a former record label in Jenin in the north of the West Bank. The Majazz Project is a research project borne out of the archive, focused around sampling, remixing and reissuing vintage Palestinian and Arabic cassettes. It is a collaboration between Arab and non-Arab DJs, producers and artists interested in shedding new light on the richness and diversity of Arabic musical heritage.

Habibi Collective is an open-access resource for women’s filmmaking from south-west Asia and North Africa, digitally archived on Instagram. With a bank of over 500 films from women filmmakers in the MENA region and diaspora, the Collective regularly screens films with speciality in moving-image and essay film. Creating a space for female MENA filmmaking where there previously was none, Habibi Collective quickly grew into an international community now with over 24k followers.
